South Korean media outlet Dispatch revealed today that the couple had broken up as they’re “too busy for love”. Later, both Twice’s management company JYP Entertainment and Konnect Entertainment, Kang’s agency, confirmed the split.
Both stars are 23 years old.
Twice is one of the most popular K-pop girl groups with a sizeable global audience, and Kang, who was formerly a member of Wanna One, is a prominent soloist in the industry.
Following the news of their break-up, both Kang and Jihyo’s names trended worldwide on Twitter, as well as on local South Korean portals.
The pair’s relationship became public knowledge in August 2019 when photos of them together were publicised, also by Dispatch.
Both have remained busy throughout 2020, with Kang and Twice releasing multiple albums and singles since the start of the year. The girl group most recently dropped their album Eyes Wide Open in October, while Kang’s latest was August’s Magenta EP.
