Blackpink’s Jennie releases new single, You & Me, video – fans react, ‘This is a masterpiece’

  • Jennie’s You & Me dance video racks up 1.73 million views in just two hours
  • K-pop star’s latest release comes five years after debut ‘Solo’ stormed the charts

Blackpink’s Jennie released her highly anticipated second solo single, “You & Me”, on Friday, five years after hitting global charts with her first solo single, “Solo”.

Released in 2018, “Solo” swept various music charts at home and abroad, reaching No 1 on the iTunes chart of 40 countries and No 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart.

Immediately after Jennie’s “You & Me” dropped at 1pm (KST), fans were ecstatic over the new song and stunning dance video.

The English-language single is a dance-pop song with a catchy melody and romantic lyrics. “Nothing in the world can make me feel the way you do, the things you do,” Jennie sings. “I love you and me / Dancing in the moonlight / Nobody can see / It’s just you and me tonight.”

The song debuted at No 37 on the iTunes US Top 100 chart and the video garnered 1.73 million views in two hours.

Jennie first performed the song on the opening night of Blackpink’s “Born Pink” world tour last October. In addition to the original song, she has also released a “Coachella” version of “You & Me”.

Fans reacted to the video, which shows the singer dancing in front of a glowing moon: “She slayed this performance like she did every other one. Queen Jennie,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. Another exclaimed, “This is a masterpiece.”

Most recently, Jennie was seen at Chanel’s spring/summer 2024 show at Paris Fashion Week. Jennie, Chanel’s global brand ambassador, dazzled in a button-up shearling vest paired with ultra-mini matching shorts and sheer tights.

Jennie will be starring in a new tvN reality show, tentatively titled “Apartment 404”, alongside Korea’s top MC, Yoo Jae-suk, and Moving stars Lee Jung-ha and Cha Tae-hyun. The show is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2024.

She made her acting debut earlier this year in the HBO drama series The Idol.

Jennie is a member of K-pop girl group Blackpink, alongside Jisoo, Rose and Lisa. The band debuted in August 2016 with the album, Square One, and has had several hits, including “Whistle”, “Ddu-du Ddu-du” and “How You Like That”.
