Indie rockers Death Cab for Cutie to make Hong Kong debut
Band behind 2012 hit 'You Are A Tourist' to play Mong Kok's MacPherson Stadium in March. Tickets go on sale this week
Death Cab For Cutie, the Grammy-nominated American rock band, will be making their Hong Kong debut next year.
The band – made up of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar, piano), Nick Harmer (bass) and Jason McGerr (drums) – are on the road to promote their eighth studio album, Kintsugi, released in March this year, and their Asia tour will also take in dates in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila and Singapore.
Since the release of their debut album, Something About Airplanes, in 1998, Death Cab For Cutie have evolved from a cult band into one of indie rock’s greatest success stories, winning Grammy nominations for best alternative music album for Plans (2006), The Open Door (2010) and Codes and Keys (2012), which contains their first US No 1 hit, You Are a Tourist.
Death Cab For Cutie will be drawing on this huge back catalogue when they appear at MacPherson Stadium in Mong Kok on March 1. Tickets, costing HK$490, will go on sale on October 9 at 10am via www.ticketflap.com.
