The trend of travellers seeking private rooms, apartments and houses to stay in continues to surge. Airbnb attributes much of the growth to visitors seeking a more authentic experience living like a local in their chosen destination.
The lodging website recently documented the fastest growing neighbourhoods for rentals around the world, including one in Japan that saw a 7,000 per cent increase in renters between 2014 and 2015 (Airbnb only included destinations with a minimum of 50 guests in 2014).

13. District VII in Budapest, Hungary: 145 per cent growth. History and Szimpla at Synagogue – Airbnb listing in District VII. More commonly known as Erzsebetvaros, District VII is the old Jewish quarter - home to beautiful synagogues and architecture, and the centre of Budapest’s nightlife.

14. The Bukit Peninsula, Bali: 130 per cent growth. Uluwatu Beach House – Airbnb listing in The Bukit, which boasts the best of Bali’s beach and culture. It’s a top location for the world’s best surfers, and home to the cliff-hanging temple at Uluwatu.
