Hong Kong’s best-kept secrets: where to find Taiwanese scallion pancakes and Japanese takoyaki

Hongkongers no longer have to fly all the way to Taiwan to get a dose of high-quality Taiwanese scallion pancakes. Tucked away in Tuen Mun, an alley near Lung Mun Oasis is filled with stalls selling all kinds of street food. Here, a food stall called Five Degrees specialises in Taiwanese scallion pancakes. You can choose from 22 toppings, including cheese, eggs, ham and crabstick. The pancake itself costs only HK$12 and the toppings vary from HK$6 to HK$9. The place is frequented only by residents who live nearby, so no crowds and no queues.
