The convenience, portability and simplicity of mobile devices not only appeals to travellers but also seasoned filmmakers, and a growing number of films, including Unsane (by Steven Sodenbergh, using an iPhone 7+ and the FiLMiC Pro app) and Tangerine (by Sean Baker, using an iPhone 5s and FiLMiC Pro) as well as numerous documentaries including Midnight Traveler (2019 Hassan Fazli, filmed using 3 different Samsung mobile phones) which documents his family’s escape from the Taliban.

While these were created in the hands of highly accomplished filmmakers, with a little creativity, forethought and basic technical knowledge of shooting and editing we can all now produce captivating videos from our travels.
