Five animal shelter charities that need your help as funding dries up amid coronavirus lockdowns in Southeast Asia
- Animal rescue centres that depend for funding on visitors are in dire straits, and need donations and other support to feed and care for their charges
- As well as giving money, you can sponsor or adopt elephants or orangutans, buy honey for bears, hold fundraisers, or foster a rescued dog temporarily
Asia’s hard-working animal sanctuaries face an uphill battle at the best of times, but with the Covid-19 pandemic bringing an unprecedented drop in visitors, their future has never looked more precarious.

Even though we cannot travel today and show our support in person, there is plenty we can do to help, from raising awareness and sharing social media posts, to sponsoring or adopting animals, or making a donation – every little helps.
We spoke to a number of animal sanctuaries across to the region to find out what they do, what they need now and how animal-lovers can help.
