With a Hong Kong-Singapore bubble expected to open in early December – sources say its scheduled opening on November 22 has been put back two weeks –holidays are finally back on the cards. Our thoughts turn to hotel deals in the Lion City.
Disappointingly, most of Singapore’s hotels aren’t offering anything special – nothing like the spectacular deals we’ve seen in Hong Kong over the summer – but after much trawling, we found six super stays, from the most family-friendly, to a crash pad for shoppers, to a bucket list weekend at Raffles. All prices include the fiddly government taxes and service charges.
1. Raffles Singapore
Recently revamped and boasting several new restaurants, swish rooms and a far more imaginative spa, before the Covid-19 pandemic bit the room rate at Raffles was upwards of HK$5,500, with breakfast costing an additional HK$500 per person – and that was if you could get a booking.
Now Hongkongers can stay at one of Asia’s grandest hotels for HK$5,910, including breakfast, with the option of a second room or second night for half-price. That gives a potential saving of more than HK$4,000 over two nights (or two rooms).
