City revving up for action
The Grand Prix is one of the city's most spectacular annual events. Already in its fifth year, the Marina Bay Street Circuit is transformed each September into a world-class racing circuit and entertainment hub.
A three-day event, this year's Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix runs from September 21 to 23, with entertainment that includes Jay Chou, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Noel Gallagher and The Pretenders. There are three GP2 races leading up to the main F1 event, which will see top drivers Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso among others vying for first place.
The Singapore Lantern Festival takes place around Chinatown during August and September. The event features lanterns, fireworks, stage shows, music and plenty of food. International clowns, puppeteers and jugglers appear at the Sentosa Buskers Festival during September at Merlion Plaza.
