Macau is renowned for many things. Two of the city’s most defining features are its East-meets-West mélange of cultures, and its many famously luxurious hotels and resorts. New opening Raffles at Galaxy Macau is the embodiment of both.

Currently in soft opening, the arrival of Raffles is raising the bar for luxury in Macau with around 450 opulent suites for guests – and it’s only suites on offer. Visitors can expect a memorable personalised experience courtesy of Raffles’ famous hallmark butlers and doormen in the iconic uniforms.

Originally established 136 years ago in Singapore, Raffles has a storied history. To weave that same magic in Macau the new property has been imagined as the residence of a fictional 14th-century Italian merchant with an extensive collection of unique artefacts from around the world. Found throughout the hotel are eye-catching art pieces and fixtures, showcasing detailed craftsmanship and precious materials such as Italian white Statuario marble.

Guests to the Raffles Lounge & Terrace will be bathed in the glow of a 15-metre high chandelier – an exquisite creation made of 500,000 crystals and 23,000 crystal rods that is illuminated by different LED sources to enhance the atmosphere, day or night.

Not to be missed is the famed Raffles afternoon tea, which features treats from award-winning pastry chef Lok Hin Yam, a veteran of world class hotels across the world from, California and London to Taipei. Also whipping up delectable desserts is chef Jacky Lung, winner of the Greater China title at the World Chocolate Masters in 2021, and a top 10 finalist in the global competition. As well as ordering from Lung’s menu, guests can take their pick from the éclair trolley moving between tables laden with a selection of exotic flavours.

Should anyone feel the need for something more substantial, all-day dining options are of course available. The inviting menu was created by executive chef Yorick Soh, building on his experience at restaurants heralded by the Michelin Guide, Black Pearl Restaurant Guide and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Lobster salad is one of chef Soh’s signature dishes, a delicacy prepared using low-temperature precision cooking to maximise the tenderness that French blue lobsters are famous for. Paired with refreshing Japanese watermelon and greens, it offers a daring synthesis of delicate flavours with a satisfying crunch.
