Style Confessions: Vilislava Petrova, trendspotter

Colour and trendspotting specialist Petrova may have moved from New York to Hong Kong, but she likes to keep in touch with her Bulgarian roots

Sheung Wan
I adore living here. The mix of modern establishments and local flavour is unbeatable.

Striped MaxMara dress
I wore this at a family wedding in the US Midwest last June. Dressing like a prairie girl felt appropriate.

Plant life
I repurposed some jars as vases to add a bit of colour — I reuse as much packaging as possible.

Skin regimen
I try to get enough sleep, work out and eat a healthy diet. I prefer the natural glow that comes as a result of that routine to any make-up tricks.

Purse
My little yellow purse is vintage Coach, possibly from the '70s, as I haven't seen that colour used in another decade.

... and for play

Black American Apparel top for the weekends and a red polkadot WoodWood skirt.

Petrova weaves fabric on a Saori loom to stay connected to her Bulgarian background.

Her favourite sandals were picked up while travelling in France.
