Price: about HK$350 without drinks or the service charge.
Ambience: it looks very much like the bacaro we've visited in Venice, with dim light, casual atmosphere and a bar where you can stand up to have a drink. But because we were the only customers in the ground floor space (a few diners were in the upstairs room), it lacked buzz.

Recommended dishes: house-made lobster and seaweed crackers (HK$50) were light and delicate, and went down well with a drink. Classic Italian meatballs (HK$80) were tender and flavourful, with a very nice tomato sauce. Poh Poh's carbonara with 63-degree egg (HK$90) was lighter than most versions, but there was too much sauce. The risi e bisi (HK$110) was creamy, rich, and delicious.
Pros: the menu is concise, which we like — you tick off what you want. The portions are quite small (but priced accordingly) and are meant to be shared.
Cons: the backless stools we sat at by the long counter were uncomfortable after a while. The 72-hours spare-rib (HK$120) had tender meat, but the dried herb flavour was too strong. Pan-roasted prawns with chilli 'nduja (HK$110) wasn't at all spicy, and the prawns didn't have much flavour.
What else? Risi e Bisi is sister restaurant to Le Port Parfumé (next door), Bistro du Vin in Kennedy Town and the Piccolo pizzerias.
