Tucked away in aquiet corner of Hung Hom, One Little Room is a treasure — not so much for the food, but for the atmosphere.

Yellowing pages torn from old books line the walls of this 15-seater cafe, books hang from the ceiling and the shelves are crammed full of titles about photography and coffee making. It has a small, open kitchen that turns out waffles and omelettes, and different types of coffees and desserts.

There are three types of waffles on the menu: the waffle combo (HK$88), waffles with coffee ice cream and coffee jelly (HK$68), and classic waffles with maple syrup and butter (HK$48).

We ordered the waffle combo, which includes sausages, baked beans, mushrooms and a green salad. The waffles were freshly made and the addition of black sesame gave them a savoury flavour, but they're not very substantial.

The egg dishes are served with a side salad and soup — we had pumpkin cream. We liked the classic omelette (HK$88), which came with bacon, sweet peppers, onion, potato and mozzarella.

Because the sets were not very filling, we ordered a drink and dessert as well. We went for the hot chocolate (HK$32), which was creamy, flavourful and decorated with a beautiful flower pattern. To finish, we had the crème brûlée (HK$38).
