... one thing to check out this month it would be the reincarnation of XXX - my favourite late night (early morning) haunt. The alternative arts venue - complete with exhibition space and movie theatre - closed for several months to move from a basement on Wing Lok Street to its new home at 353-363 Des Voeux Road West in Sai Wan. It's expected to re-open by the end of August. The new location is still a grimy basement, but bigger, with a stage for live acts, and toilets inside the club (no more traipsing upstairs to queue on the street for two small loos as before). The best bit? A beefed-up sound system. Oh, and cheap drinks. That's right, XXX now has a liquor licence. I'm excited about the return of some of the best music in town.
