the main dining room has a long, elegantly curved teppanyaki bar. The set menus seem pricey, until you compare them to the à la carte selection; then you realise the sets are a pretty good deal.

as is usual in teppanyaki restaurants, one chef takes care of several customers; my group of three had a dedicated chef. There wasn't much wrong with the food he cooked, but he seemed incapable of preparing three dishes at once so that we could eat at the same time. He prepared one dish before starting to cook the next, so for much of the meal, one person would be eating while the others waited. He also couldn't remember which of us should be served certain dishes in the set meal. So my friend (who ordered the HK$1,380 set) received the amadai I should have been served on the HK$1,580 set, and our third friend - who ordered à la carte - received the scallops that should have been part of one of our set meals. The final savoury course of garlic rice (served with soup and pickles) was bland.

pumpkin soup was light, smooth and subtly sweet. They were out of lobster for the HK$1,580 set, so substituted a delicious fresh abalone, which was cooked perfectly before being cut into thick, tender slices and served with the dense, rich liver.
