	PASTELS


	Soft colours aren't just for girly girls. Brands are edging up the lightest rose, lilacs and periwinkle blues by combining them with unexpected textures such as mohair, fur and even mesh. Carven, Emilio Pucci and Chloé have all innovated with powdery hues, often combining two or three pastel pieces in one look.
WEAR IT: to keep your outfit from looking childish, but steer clear of ruffles and frills. Try classic silhouettes and go big on texture.

	Glamour is back just in time for the festive season. Tops and bottoms, shoes and accessories all get the bedazzled look. Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana's autumn-winter 2013/14 collections provide all out holiday sparkle. Meanwhile, Tory Burch goes for an understated look with strategically clustered gemstones.
WEAR IT: to balance out statement-making bling by keeping the rest of your outfit simple. If your top has all-over sequins, skip the jewellery.

The Great Gatsby effect continues this winter with brands such as Catherine Malandrino looking to the Hollywood adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's quixotic novel for inspiration.
Avoid a full costumed look, and instead opt for adapted geometric references and Roaring Twenties silhouettes.
WEAR IT: fringe and ropes of beads work best with movement so take it out for a night of dancing.
