Coffee Alley, Causeway Bay - tasty but hardly worth the wait
Vanessa Yung
We knew it would be unwise to visit Coffee Alley, with its notoriously long queues, on a Friday night. But my friend had wanted to try this popular Taiwanese cafe for so long, we decided to go for it.
Customers are allotted only 90 minutes per visit, so despite the menu's extensive and enticing selection of teas, coffees, and fruit-based drinks, it's best to order as quickly as possible.
My Japanese green tea latte au lait (HK$40) was tasty, but my guest wished her green tea smoothie (HK$52) was creamier. Also needing improvement was the signature waffle with fresh strawberry and ice cream (HK$58). We were not fans of the bland custard and waffle with its doughy bottom.
Overall we have mixed feelings about the place: although we liked the food, service and ambience, we probably won't go back because of the long queue and limited eating time.
