The shopper: Pretty Ballerinas has a flat for every foot

If there is a holy grail for any fashion editor, then it would be finding the perfect pair of flats. It seems we may have found the answer in the form of Pretty Ballerinas, which specialises in super soft ballerina flats made in Spain.

The brand, which was launched online in 2005, has just opened a boutique in Causeway Bay. It's the first in Hong Kong but Pretty Ballerinas has over 80 boutiques worldwide. Its client list includes Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie, Kate Middleton and Kylie Minogue.

Pretty Ballerinas is a division of Mascaro, which is a famed family of manufacturers based on the Balearic island of Minorca. Mascaro recently celebrated its 95th anniversary.

The store, which is located in Windsor House in Causeway Bay, is only 350 sq ft, but is decked out like a luxe ballet studio. Featuring a black and gold colour palette, accents of pink add a girly touch while the brand's signature butterfly shape takes pride of place in the front window. The dark wood floors and crystal chandelier add an opulent feel while shoes are displayed on racks inspired by ballet bars.

There are only ballerina flats available but they come in countless shapes, colours and sizes. Every pair is named after an iconic actress or singer.

The company produces 300,000 pairs of ballerina flats each year, so if you don't find what you are looking for here, chances are you never will.
