You'll find plenty of quirky items, such as Star Wars lightsabre chopsticks, in this Fortress Hill basement emporium. Set aside an hour, at least

If you're strolling around Fortress Hill and see a sign pointing to Village Vanguard, you might think you'd just stumbled across a local branch of the famed New York City jazz club. Instead, you've just discovered one of the city's most quirky emporiums specialising in toys, magazines, movie memorabilia and just plain weird stuff from Japan. Wandering around the massive basement store, we discovered a HK$99 mould for making shot glasses out of ice, lightsabre chopsticks for HK$100 and an impressive model of King Ghidorah (a baddie from the films) for HK$975. If you're visiting, it's best to set aside at least one hour to browse — Japanophiles will find many buried treasures.
