Ramen burger at Street Meat
For a quick bite in Central head to the cosy (12 seats), Street Meat (facebook.com/streetmeat.hk) on Wyndham Street. The exterior is designed to look like the Prince Street subway station in New York, and the theme continues inside with white tiles and concrete floors.

We went last week on the first day it opened and they were still fine-tuning recipes, but it's definitely worth a visit. The ramen burger (above) has a slightly crunchy ramen "bun", layered with thin strips of wagyu beef and not-too-spicy kimchi.

We liked the delicious lobster rolls, although we thought that HK$128 for two small rolls was quite steep. The lamb wrap with grilled leeks was good too, even though the description of it being seasoned with Xinjiang spices led us to believe there would be cumin. All we tasted was chillies.

Street Meat doesn't have a liquor licence yet, but when it does the menu will list craft beers and cocktails.

Over at PMQ on Aberdeen Street in Central, Spanish chef Paolo Casagrande presents fine-dining Basque cuisine at Vasco (tel: 2156 0888) and the more casual Isono Eatery & Bar (tel: 2156 0688).

If you're looking for dining options in Kwai Fong, the Café Deco Group has opened a branch of German restaurant and bar, Berliner (tel: 2796 2203) in Metroplaza.
