As mentioned two weeks ago, the freshly minted (tel: 2521 9800) on Caine Road, is serving cicchetti, the Venetian version of Spain's tapas. On a recent visit to this Mediterranean-style bar and restaurant, with its high ceilings, exposed brick walls and wooden frames, we tried focaccia that were done up like mini pizzas. We found the parma ham and burrata version a little pedestrian.
But we loved the beetroot tuna tartare (above), which was enclosed in a soft gelatin shell, and came with Jerusalem artichoke sauce. We also liked the fries made of polenta and dipped in a marscapone cheese sauce with bits of black truffle in it.
Save room for dessert, particularly the deceptively light double chocolate cake (dark and white) with mango sauce.
in Wong Chuk Hang (tel: 2165 1000) is an all-day restaurant, serving dishes such as broiled Alaskan black cod, bucatini with littleneck clams seasoned with Japanese curry oil, and passion fruit mousse.
(tel: 2661 3533) is opening a new branch at China Hong Kong City in Tsim Sha Tsui. Diners can order tailor-made pizzas which are ready in five minutes, as well as focaccia, lasagna and gelato.
