Five fabulous ways to wear shearling this season

Shearling has been in and out of fashion for years — worn by aviators, market traders and second-hand car salesmen. The early noughties saw sheepskin rear its practical head in the form of the Ugg phenomenon, which has thankfully since petered out.

Shearling has been in and out of fashion for years — worn by aviators, market traders and second-hand car salesmen. The early noughties saw sheepskin rear its practical head in the form of the Ugg phenomenon, which has thankfully since petered out.

Now, fashion houses have decided it's time for a comeback, and shearling can be found on a swathe of funky, eccentric designs that beg to be cuddled on a chilly winter's morning.

We love its use on accessories this season. Clare V has a shearling bum bag, stitched onto an adjustable leather strap, while Fendi has gone with teal-dyed sheepskin against a gold-toned chain necklace.

For those heading for the ski slopes this winter, Tory Burch's shearling-lined, quilted suede boots with rubber toecaps are perfect for après ski, while Rag & Bone and Pedro García has shearling-trimmed, thick-heeled mules that are worthy of a "chalet hop" or Christmas do.
