Tip of the week: Toys Club has playthings that educate and entertain

Parents who have tired of the same-same selection and dubious quality on offer at a certain dominant toy store chain should head to Toys Club (itoysclub.com) in Horizon Plaza, Ap Lei Chau. It focuses on good-quality playthings that educate as much as they entertain. On a recent visit we found a packet of "Triops from the Age of the Dinosaurs", eggs of an ancient shrimp-like creature that hatch when placed in water, and an old-school "spud gun" that fires potato pellets — both for less than HK$25 each.
