Veal cheek ravioli with parmesan
Joanne Lam

New to Caine Road is Sepa, an ornate Venetian bacaro and sister restaurant to well-loved Catalunya. The establishment serves tapas-style traditional Venetian cicchetti.

For starters, we tried the croquettes filled with ricotta and olives (HK$98) and the bassotto egg with bagna cauda sauce, zucchini and potato foam (HK$88). The croquettes were overdone on the outside but had a hearty filling. The egg was cooked perfectly and the sauce and foam was a mouthful of heaven mixed with the yolk. Crunchy quinoa added a nice touch.

Sepa means cuttlefish in Venetian dialect, so the cuttlefish served with squid ink (HK$158) is a must-try - and it did not disappoint. The stark contrast between the ink-covered cuttlefish and the beige potato foam also makes the dish a visual delight.

The ravioli filled with veal cheek and parmesan (HK$148) was flavourful with a delicious butter and thyme sauce.

The home-made ricotta cake (HK$88) brought a sweet ending. We also enjoyed the refreshing, palate-cleansing lemon sorbet with mint and anise.

Service was hit and miss but our server happily helped us navigate the extensive drinks menu.
