Restaurant review: L'Entrecôte de Paris - Parisian chic
Esther Ng

It seems like steak frites is the hot culinary trend in Hong Kong right now. Popular La Vache! is still going strong and L'Entrecôte de Paris has joined the fray, not to mention the Parisian original Le Relais de L'Entrecôte has also opened in the city.
Oozing Parisian chic, the interior of L'Entrecôte de Paris is simple with tiled floors and white tablecloths with glasses on the table. If you want choice this is not the place since there are only two options, the green salad with walnuts, trimmed entrecôte steak and french fries (HK$268) or the grilled salmon and tagliolini (HK$268).
The generic mesclun salad was too vinegary, but the juicy steak that arrived pre-sliced was good. However, we asked for medium, which our waitress marked on the paper covering the tablecloth, but got medium-rare instead. The frites were hot and crispy but needed seasoning. Regarding the supposedly famous lime green sauce, we just didn't get what all the fuss is about.
Some of the desserts we tried included the chocolate fondant (HK$68) and crème brûlée (HK$68), but they were pretty generic as well. As for the service, perhaps it was because it was busy on a late Halloween night, but our "vampire" waitress seemed tired and had trouble with silver service.
