Harlan's offers and excellent choice of international fare

Mukul Munish

International

The luxurious interior dining area exudes warmth, with candlelit tables and wooden floors. The alfresco terrace has excellent views of Victoria Harbour.

About HK$2,000 for dinner for two with drinks.

During lunch, the place is packed with business diners and tourists from nearby Nathan Road. At weekends, more families and friends enjoy an evening out and the excellent views.

Food, food and food. There is an excellent choice of international fare, from oysters, steaks, Italian and other cuisines. We started with oysters from three different shores, (French HK$78 each; the African HK$58 each; and the Irish were HK$48 each). They each had their own unique flavour and texture. The main course of linguine with giant prawns tasted great. The tomatoes and prawns matched well, and the prawns were tender. The beef tenderloin melted in the mouth and the foie gras on top was juicy.

The biggest let-down was the service, which was excruciatingly slow. So much so, that we asked for our dessert orders twice, as the gap between the main course and dessert was so long.

An excellent selection of Champagnes, white and red wine from Italy, France, Australia and United States.
