Common Room serves a world-inspired, tapas-style menu to supplement a place where there is a big accent on classic and contemporary cocktails. AMBIENCE Located in a quiet lane off Lan Kwai Fong, this rustic industrial-type venue is a convivial spot to start the night off with friends. COST Bank on around HK$700 per couple with drinks. The portions are not sizeable, but they are tasty and reasonably priced. Just make sure to leave space for desserts. WHO TO BRING Anyone you would feel comfortable sharing food with, the imaginative menu deserves exploring. TURN-ONS Our charming server immediately put us at ease with her friendly and helpful manner, and recommendations. Do try the delicious Portobello mushroom sliders (three bite-sized portions), containing provolone, caramelised onions and avocados. The lamb meatballs (with home-made tzatziki and fresh mint sauce) were equally tasty. The pinnacle of the meal came at the end in the shape of the heavenly sticky date pudding with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream, even though it was visually upstaged by the cryo-fried vanilla ice cream (flambé with brandy and raspberry sauce). TURN-OFFS Unfortunately, the classic mac & cheese was served lukewarm and not piping hot, so we did not get the full benefit of the tantalising mixture of buffalo mozzarella, gruyere, parmesan and gouda topped with bread crumbs. It still tasted pretty good, just not up to expectations. DRINKS Huge array of cocktails, mocktails and other alcoholic drinks. Common Room 8-12 Wo On Lane, Wo On Building, Central, 2525 3599
