TURN-ONS We started with one of Sing Yin’s signature menu items: steamed scallop, pork and shrimp dumplings with the restaurant’s signature XO sauce. It was wonderful to get the whole taste of scallop, pork and shrimp at the first bite, and the juicy texture inside made it very moreish. It was perfect for those who enjoy spicy food while the asparagus on top gave it some bite. Another signature dish of steamed dumplings with crabmeat, prawn, pork and pumpkin in the shape of goldfish made both mouth and eyes happy. Steamed mixed mushroom buns with black truffle paste shaped like mushrooms was another dish to add to our album. Last but not least, crispy duck breast and carrot dumplings in – what else – the shape of a carrot, satisfied all our expectations as it did not have an overpowering smell of duck meat but kept its chewy and crispy texture.
TURN-OFFS Sing Yin signature XO chilli sauce is a quintessential pairing for dim sum. All-you-can-eat dim sum can be a bit heavy without the spicy add-on.
