Three Best Bars for Balls

Les Boules

Hong Kong’s only indoor bar for subterranean lawn bowling, or pétanque. Les Boules’ basement bar is as bright as a fine Marseillaise summer’s day, with three long sand-topped lanes and two shorter trainer lanes. Please be aware of the players on the other lanes and be careful of your metal ball when you throw it high up into the air after your third pastis.
18 Woo Hop St., Shek Tong Tsui, 2872-0102, www.lesboules.hk.

Tazmania Ballroom

The Ballroom drips Blofeldian glam in its dark, grotto-like walls of golds and black lozenges. Every Tuesday and Sunday, the billiard tables are hoisted up its cavernous ceiling to make way for ping-pong tables. Lounge in the VIP area with an excellent wine and head-bop to DJ Alan’s rare grooves on Friday, or enjoy a completely non-competitive game of pool or table tennis. Please be careful with the ping-pong balls—they always end up flying over to the golden bar and exasperating the bartenders.
1/F, LKF Tower, 33 Wyndham St., Central, 2801-5009.

LaKage

With a leopard print tile catwalk and a giant birdcage, the long 3,000 square foot bar-lounge offers a bit of Las Vegas-style entertainment in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong—that’s steamy cage dancing performed by femme fatales and man-candy every night, every hour. Dark mood lighting casts a seductive, ardent glow of red and purple to the swanky, baller boite, where you can sip saucy drinks with names like The Porn Star, Kinky Mule and Cage Cooler. Please be careful of your own balls.
3/F, Cosmos Building, 8-11 Lan Kwai Fong, Central, 2521-4848
