Frigging hell, has it been a year already? While here at the HK Magazine office we are looking out the window, wondering when the typhoon is going to come, in our inbox we already have emails about mooncakes. To give you some sense of time, this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival will fall on September 22. A bit premature? Maybe, but then who are we to argue when we’re all crazy about the super-sweet, crazily indulgent delicacy? While we were going through the mooncake emails, one thing did catch our eye though. Besides mooncakes, the Kowloon Shangri-la will be launching a new treat for the upcoming Moon Fest—cookies! Named “Celebration” ($238/18 pieces) and “Oneness” ($388/12 pieces), the two ranges of cookies are actually made from the main ingredients of mooncakes—for Celebration, the lotus seed paste is used with nuts and dried apricots; while Oneness has white lotus seed paste or red bean paste with crispy biscuits, topped with a sprinkling of gold powder.
