Tai Koo The two major properties here are Taikoo Shing (61 blocks) and Kornhill (17 blocks), which offer easy access to big department stores and the mall. One Island East also just opened nearby. With a new office block there and many more people working in the area, the estates are bound to attract plenty of tenants. Kingswood Villas, Tin Shui Wai Developed by Cheung Kong Hong in the 1990s, this 58-block estate is one of the largest private housing estates in Hong Kong. It’s well connected with west rail and light rail, and offers a good view of the nearby wetland park. Prices are still very cheap. Whampoa Gardens, Hung Hom There are 88 residential towers in this 96-block residential-commercial complex. In addition to commercial towers are schools and a shopping mall. Lai believes the nearby redevelopment scheme for the old airport site at Kai Tak will boost prices. Sha Tin City One The largest residential estate in Sha Tin consists of 56 blocks. It includes two shopping arcades, a wet market and other adequate facilities. Prices have dropped overall during the recession, but jumped up by 10 per cent this first quarter. Olympic Station Three projects on top of the station have been nicknamed the “three treasures”: Central Park (4 blocks), Park Avenue (5 blocks) and Island Harbourview (9 blocks).
