Panasonic DMC-LX2

In my humble opinion, this is the best compact digital camera on the market, nearly replicating the freedom and functionality of a DSLR – I know because I own one. With extensive, easy-to-use manual controls (focus, exposure), a maximum ISO of 1600 and an immense Leica lens with three wide-angle features, it’s almost as if they took one of those hulking beasts and shrunk it down into a sleek pocket device. The RAW processing capabilities and Panasonic’s exclusive image stabilizers guarantee a perfect shot every time, while the retro look will be the envy of all your hipster friends. It’s the perfect camera for both amateurs and pros, providing both an entry-level approach to photography and a lightweight alternative to
your heavy-duty models.
Recommended price: $3,600

Fujifilm Finepix S8000fd

It might not look much like a compact camera, but that’s the point – Fujifilm have recreated the look, feel and functionality of a DSLR, squeezing it down into a handheld device that’s easily portable. With 8 megapixels, dual image stabilization (increased clarity and sharpness) and the ability to use AA batteries, you’ll never need to worry about manual functions or chargers again. But what makes this camera stand out, and what makes it the preferred choice of perverts around the world, is its 18x long zoom lens – the most powerful zoom lens in the world, able to magnify up to an astonishing 91.8x. Who needs a lens-changing SLR when you’ve got this bad boy on board?
Recommended price: $4,000

Nikon Coolpix P5100

One of the most reliable brands on the market, Nikons affordable prices and rugged machines make them the only choice for many professionals around the world – and you can’t blame them for wanting to branch out to us pro-sumers. The P5100 is their latest effort, and what an effort it is – with 12.1 megapixels and an insanely high ISO of 3200, Nikon’s focus is solely on one thing: the best damn images without any hassles. And with their revolutionary image processing engine and continuous flash shooting, you’ll easily capture every pore on her face while never missing those uh, Nikon moments.
