Made in Mongkok
We all know we can get handbags in Ladies Market, or factory surplus in Fa Yuen Street, but what else does Mongkok have to offer?

20 Things to Do in Mong Kok
1. Get a Cosplay Costume
Cosplay, or Costume Play, is that Japanese teen pastime of creating elaborate costumes of their favorite anime, manga or videogame character. Purists make their own, but if you haven’t the time, Natalie at Spider is an expert at tailor-making these extreme costumes. Pick your dream getup from a Japanese cosplay magazine, or let Natalie choose the right look for you.

2. Grin and Bear It
Tucked away in a makeshift bamboo forest, Panda House Cafe provides a temporary escape from the, ahem, panda-monium of busy MK. Frequented mostly by local teens, it’s a haven of ridiculous cuteness that overlooks one of the busiest junctions in Mongkok. The café also has free WiFi internet access, PS2, Wii and board games. Who needs Ocean Park?

3. Gird Your Loins
Underwear shopping AND tanning in a cafe? Makes a change from the five-pack of y-fronts Marks and Spencer stealth-grab. TOOT sells designer Japanese men’s underwear, from boxers to bikini briefs; basics to couture designs, there’s something for everyone. The store is popular with the nearby California Fitness crowd, so don’t forget to grab your post-gym protein drink to make your new underpants fit better.
