Singer-songwriter Chet Lam Yat-fung
Chet Lam Yat-fung is one of Hong Kong’s biggest singer-songwriters and manager of the production company, LYFE Music. He talks about why it’s good to travel alone and when to call time on a relationship.

I liked to sing out loud when I was a kid. I didn't care whether anyone liked it or not.
But now my idea of hell is to be forced to listen to bad singing from a nearby karaoke lounge.
I always wanted to learn piano, but it was too expensive. And my flat was too small.
When I was 17, I heard Janis Ian’s “Light a Light,” off her 1975 album “Between the Line.” It's a song about self-awakening. I didn’t know that music has a kind of life until that moment - that it could tell a story.
I started to write songs at school. My chemistry lessons were boring. I had to find something to do to kill time.
But don’t you think it’s cool using a scientific outlook to write something emotional?
