Best Snow
Whether it’s regular powder, a half-year ski season or just one hell of a luxury excursion, these slopes get our vote as some of the world’s best (while being a reasonable distance away).

Niseko, Hokkaido (Japan)
Niseko is known for the constant, heavy snowfall it receives (from January to March, the average snow depth is 351cm), resulting in fresh, deep snow on a daily basis.
Mt. Ezhovaya, the Middle Urals (Russia)
In the Urals you have the option of heli-skiing out of ex-Soviet military helicopters and the views are great. Crowds aren’t a concern here; safety is.
Sahoro, Hokkaido (Japan)
The Sahoro area is famous for its ideal weather conditions and extensive ski courses in English and Japanese.
Alborz Mountains, Tehran (Iran)
A 1.5-hour drive from Tehran, Dizin in the Alborz is Iran’s largest snowfield, boasting some of the highest slopes in the world. The season lasts six months, and skiing in Dizin is relatively cheap: approximately $32/day for a lift pass and $64/day for equipment. Nearby Shemshak is the next largest, and while the ski lifts aren’t modern, lights are set up along the slopes for great night skiing.
