My original ancestor was probably a bastard.

My father was born in Japan, in the UK consulate. For some reason his mother went to Japan every time she was about to pop.
My mother was born in Hong Kong either in Old Bailey Street or Mosque Street.
When I was four, our family went to Shanghai but we were evacuated to Hong Kong in 1938.
At five years old, I was sent to boarding school. I don’t think I was particularly keen on school. I didn’t go to university. I was fairly idle.
My family fortunes were shrinking. It took my father only a few years to run through my mother’s inheritance. I had to think about earning a living.
