Something caught my tiny eyes when I was chitchatting with presidential chefs on the Hyatt junk. On top of Harbour Grand Hotel in Fortress Hill a massive neon sign reads, “Kyoto Festival Set Menu,” then dissolves to “White Asparagus.” What is this? Wait, the folks at the Harbour Grand decided to post their latest dining promotions onto the friggin panel! Sure, they own the panel and they can write their owner’s name (Li Ka-shing, in case you are wondering) on it if they want, but posting your menu? That’s just tacky. Imagine a tourist’s perfect picture of Hong Kong’s world-famous nighttime skyline—IFC, The Peak Tower, HSBC Building, Bank of China Building, and white asparagus?
