What’s on Wo On Lane?

TAJ BAR & RESTAURANT
The newest of the Wo On Lane crew, Taj opened a mere month ago and it’s a righteous addition to the chilled out, cozy feel of bars found along here. The petite space is is comfortably lit in dim reds, and they also serve up Indian beer with free snacks. Try their signature Taj Martini, or the non-alcoholic lassi in fruity flavors.
G/F, 4-5 Wo On Lane, Lan Kwai Fong, Central. 2522-6061.

JEM
Besides the venerable awesome bar that is Baby B, Jem is the oldest lounge on this quiet stretch off Lan Kwai Fong. Done up in soft lighting and velvety seating, the bar also offers hookah pipes with apple, strawberry or mixed-fruit tobacco. Perfect for a long, lazy evening. Wine buffet and snacks every Wed, 5pm-8pm.

OYSTER BAR & RESTAURANT
Opened last year, this prosaically named lounge does indeed serve fresh oysters – to eat, and in your cocktail. Popular snacks are the half-dozen oysters and tuna melts, but their real specialty is the oyster martini – vodka and fresh oyster juice (no actual oyster included, though). Disco music and bluish lighting add to the surreality.

COMMUNITY
Community opened in May, but it’s already well-known as a warm, homey bar, and gay-friendly to boot. The place stretches over two floors; on the first, the music is generally such crowd-rousing anthemic stuff as Mando-pop-rock and pure disco, while the second is available for private party bookings, with karaoke service.
