RSVP

A request to RSVP is at least some allusion of being a party of worth. “If it doesn’t say RSVP, the door policy will be far looser.”

“1 Invite Admits 2”

This signifies a less exclusive door policy, according to Cheng, though it’s not as open as those that have no mention of additional guests at all. “Strictly by invitation” is as strict as it sounds.

Dress Code

“A serious dress code means an exclusive, expensive party.” What about casual chic? “It means absolutely nothing!” Dress code: White? “Oh God.”

Thickness

“The thickness of the invite is related to the party’s impressiveness,” Cheng says. It’s also a good sign if it’s made of something weird like foam or plastic (see below). Virtual invites throw a monkey wrench into the logic; however, an SMS invitation never bodes well.
