Bigger and Loving It
Emily Leung, 24, had her breasts augmented from 34B to 34D when she was 20 years old. We talk to her about how happy she is with her new breasts.
HK Magazine: What made you decide to have surgery? Were you scared?
Emily Leung: Almost every one of my female friends has done it, so I knew what it would be like and I wasn’t scared at all. Big breasts are common in the UK [where she was living at the time], and mine looked small in comparison. Having larger breasts made me feel more “normal.” It helped me blend in better. I just made the decision on an impulse. I went for the consultation and the procedure within about a week in a half after deciding.
HK: What happened during the consultation?
EL: The doctor checked my breasts, made some recommendations about the size I should get, and mechanically listed all the risks and side effects that may occur. I then went to the hospital alone, had the operation done and stayed overnight there.
HK: Was it painful?
EL: Not that painful. My breasts didn’t hurt much but my arms were in pain for some reason. But they keep pumping you with painkillers. It did cause some inconvenience in the first four weeks though. I needed to wear a sports bra. I couldn’t move my arms freely and the scars looked horrible. But as soon as the scar cleared, I was ecstatic about my enlarged breasts!
HK: Does your family know?
EL: My mom knew and she was a bit upset. She said if god wanted me to have larger breasts, he would have given them to me. But she got over it pretty soon. My dad I’m not sure about. I think he notices my enlarged breasts, but he’s too embarrassed to talk about it. What do you expect him to say? “So I notice that you breasts have grown quite a bit lately...”
HK: How about your friends’ reactions?
EL: Pretty positive. Everyone says I look great with my new breasts. And the girls keep asking me what the surgery is like and how it is done. I think many girls want to have their breasts enlarged. Some people just criticize the whole nip-tuck thing out of envy. It is either they don’t have the guts or they don’t have the money.
HK: Are you happy with your body now?
EL: Women never are. I keep complaining about this and that and I want to have my nose done. I heard that there was a doctor at Beverly Hills who is really good at that...
