Le Jardin Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, close bosom-friend of the maturing sun. Finally, it’s cool enough to sit outside. You’ll want to take advantage of it by eschewing any bar that has any hint of an indoor section and, barring 7-11, this recently renovated bar is it. With large fans scattered around a substantial patio bit, it’s the perfect getaway from sweaty, obnoxious summer. Since its name means The Garden in French, any fool knows to expect plenty of handy shady plants and a mosaic of fallen leaves underfoot (wait, do leaves fall in a subtropical climate?). Come down for happy hour from 4:30pm-8pm. 10 Wing Wah Lane, Central, 2526-2717. Wildfire (Knutsford Terrace) Oh, the changing colors of autumnal leaves - red, brown, gold. Wait, do they change color in Hong Kong? Well, whatever, because this bar is handily decorated in the ultimate fall palate and it’s even got a backyard. Fulfill all your temperate-climate desires here, and order a special-priced drink at happy hour (4pm-7pm; to 9pm if you sit outside) while you're at it. They even have special climate control (and a remote control for it, no less!) that allows you to "chillax" as they say in Canada (the ultimate in countries that have autumn!) at a brisk yet enjoyable temperature. Perfect for a relaxed chat in the often-great outdoors. 2-3 Knutsford Terrace, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2270-9860. Baby B Autumn is a transition period. You're probably going through a transition period yourself, am I right? So you probably want someone and/or something to identify with. That thing is this bar. Incredibly (surely 'tis fate?) situated at the end of Wo On Lane, just before Lan Kwai Fong turns into SoHo (a terra transita perioda, in Latin), this sometimes-totally-chilled-sometimes-pumping bar doesn't just serve one of the best mojitos in Central, it's also a geographical metaphor of your life. Luckily, the bar staff are super nice, so you'll have someone to hold your hand through your tears at finally having found something that gets you, really GETS you. 18 Wo On Lane, Central, 2167-7244. Soda Or by a cyder-press, with patient look, thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours. It's often hard to tell the difference between a patient look and an oozing, but hang in there! Come down for Soda's recently launched monthly iPod nights (Thu) - with each iPod jockey only getting a 20 minute set, it's the perfect solution for a fickle someone who can never decide if it's too humid or too dry. “Hm, is it the breeze not biting enough, or would I prefer some still, heavy air?” You know, you're a real posterchild for ditzy, indecisive autumn. Just stand outside to enjoy a breeze (and a $35 Foster's!) and head inside to get away from the breeze. UB/F, 79 Wyndham St., Central, 2522-8118.
