Top Five: Indian
Veteran tailor Gary Khiatani tells us where he usually goes for curries and Indian.
1. Bombay Dreams (1/F, Carfield Commercial Building, 75-77 Wyndham Street, Central, 2971-0001). “It has the best curry and authentic Indian food. The fish and masala there are great. They also have a great lunch buffet.”
2. Tandoor Indian Restaurant (1/F, Lyndhurst Tower, 1 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, 2845-2262). “It is one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Hong Kong. It has nice ambience and traditional, delicious food to go with it. “
3. Woodlands (61 Mody Road, Tsim Sha Tsui East, 2369-3718). “It has authentic South Indian food, which is great because I'm from South India. I like its masala dosa – it's a crispy flat pancake made of rice powder, with potatoes and vegetables in between, like a wrap.”
4. Gaylord Indian Restaurant (1/F, Ashley Centre, 23-25 Ashley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2376-1001). “It is a very old, North Indian restaurant. I used to go there often when I was young so it’s like a walk down the memory lane. Try the tandoori and kebabs, and it’s vegetarian-friendly.”
5. Sangeet Indian Restaurant (Room 1-3 G/F, 17-23 Minden Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui, 2367-5619). “The vegetarian dishes hereare the best. They've also got an enjoyable ambience, thanks to the performance of a live band.”
