Christopher Wong
Christopher Wong started out as a DJ at RTHK during the 80s. He became a singer-songwriter before leaving the Hong Kong entertainment industry and moving overseas. He talks to Janet Leung about the media, opportunities and love, ahead of his concert with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra

Being a DJ was a blessing in disguise. But with the label RTHK marked on your forehead, you lose a lot of job opportunities because everything needs the company’s approval.
The good thing being a radio host is that you can pour your heart out during the show, telling people who you are through your own words.
Everything you do or say leaves a record.
There was once a guy who called in and asked me if I remembered talking him out of suicide. Honestly, I didn’t.
Do I find the media distasteful? Can’t you tell?
No news is good news. Reporters here are more interested in scandals than anything else.
Local reporters are creative writers. They have the whole script in their head and collect the “evidence” by selectively taking snapshots and making a story out of it.
