Hi, I’m Nick. People call me KFC.
I was born in Hong Kong in 1967 in a family of six. My dad left and my eldest sister became the breadwinner.
To my sister, formal education was about good handwriting and manners. That’s all she knew about.
The person who is strict with you is the one who cares the most about you.
My sister was the only one who bothered to sustain the myth of Santa Claus for me. She would place an expensive toy in my sock every Christmas.
I was a cool kid that other kids followed. But I pushed them away because I enjoyed moving around different groups.
Studying is so not my thing. I got through high school with my cheat sheet.
I went to the Police Cadet School after F.5. That’s where dropouts went.
I was ready for some action, but there wasn’t any. Most of the time I was waving cars by.
I was on the front page of the papers once with blood all over my head. There was nothing heroic about it... I jumped out of the car and hurt myself before any action started.
My sister was terminally ill with cancer between 1997-1998. She didn’t say a word about it. I was overseas at the time.
As soon as I saw her, I knew she was dying.
Once it is known that someone has cancer, suggestions about miraculous alternative treatments seem plausible. I was desperate to believe anything.
I forced her to drink the Chinese medicine, which tastes really bad. I was hoping that a miracle would happen.
I was selfish. I should have just let her die peacefully.
She left too young, too soon. She was only 40.
Try your talent in different things you wouldn’t normally think of – especially when you are unemployed and you have tons of time on your hand.
I was doing nothing during my two years of unemployment. Yes, really nothing.
Being an actor was the last thing that came to my mind. Look at me...people won’t fantasize about me.
I worked in ATV for around five years.
It was hard work with no feedback. Even my mom watched TVB.
One time a colleague said to me, “I know you have been working very hard, we all know that.” Tell me about it. I knew I worked my ass off.
I cried. I don’t know why.
I was an MC in an ATV show. I was acting all upbeat and cheerful... but the voice in my head kept telling me, “No one is watching your show. Why are you pretending as if you are so happy?”
I cried again. I don’t know why.
I had enough of it. I quit.
You can call me a quitter if I had spent less than a year in ATV, but no it was five damn years.
My years in ATV taught me not to expect anything. When TVB asked me to join them, I didn’t get all excited and think, “I made it!”
I knew the production on “Secret of the Heart”(a TV show) was good, but honestly my role was hardly challenging.
I became popular after the show ended. I didn’t think this would become the turning point of my life.
I used to believe that an individual had the power to change anything – well, apparently not in show biz.
I don’t consider myself especially lucky. Life is hard - but at least I’m getting results from the work I’m doing.
Fate is the biggest influence in life - it determines your path as well as your personality.
I quit thinking about fairness because there isn’t any.
My wife threatened to leave me if I didn’t have children. I knew she was serious.
I cried when I saw my baby girl. I don’t know why.
Forbidden fruits always taste better. I won’t stop my child from doing anything as long as it doesn’t kill her.
I want to be remembered as a cheerful guy instead of  “Nick Cheung, The Frown.”
I grow more relaxed as life unfolds. Who knows what’s going to happen tomorrow?
I wouldn’t have worn this suit if you weren’t going to take some pictures. Come on, shoot me!
