Actress Jennifer Anniston

HK Magazine: What are your views on loyalty in a marriage, since the movie deals with two characters who contemplate infidelity?
Jennifer Aniston: Well, I’m not up for swinging, personally. But there are those people who have open marriages and that’s okay for them. Personally I’m not interested in that.

HK: What is important in a marriage?
JA: Trust. Honesty. The obvious things.

HK: Did you like your character in the film?
JA: I liked that she was sad. I felt that she wasn’t malicious. I think she was trapped in a certain type of situation that she really couldn’t get out of. And when she meets Charles, he is kind of a light for her and she is actually drawn to him and not just another – well, we can’t say. We can’t give anything away.

HK: The Clive Owen character – Charles - has a beautiful wife and child and has such a lovely life. Why would he be attracted to your character in the movie?
JA: Isn’t that terrible? I don’t know. I think it’s just life. That’s what’s harsh about it. Life is not easy. Life does not make sense sometimes. You can have everything wonderful in the world and you just make stupid choices. You know because you’re bored for a moment or you’re not fulfilled for a moment. I think that’s what’s interesting to Clive about this part - his flaws. He wasn’t taking charge so much as things just happened to him. That’s until he had to kick ass in the end.

HK: And Clive? How was it to work with Clive?
JA: Another amazing, fantastic, funny actor. And really more of a goofball than you’d imagine. He plays such serious debonair characters all the time. But he’s really funny.

HK: How?
JA: He’s just a goofball. We had to laugh a lot to counter-balance the depressing mood of the story.
