Top Five: Cultural Eats

1. Liu Yuan Pavilion (3/F The Broadway, 54 - 62 Lockhart Rd., Wan Chai, 2804-2000). “It’s not at all fussy. The interior is clean, modern and white but still welcoming. My father, who is Shanghainese always goes there and he’s a real foodie- so you know it’s authentic.”

2. Cipriani (12/F., Old Bank of China Building, Central, 2501-0222) “My husband proposed to me at Harry’s Bar in Venice (owners of Hong Kong’s Cipriani) so it brings back special memories. And the staff there are great, unlike the staff in Venice.”

3. Life Café (10 Shelly St., SoHo, 2810-9777) “I have not eaten a mammal since I was 11. I practically have lunch here everyday.”

4. The China Club (13-15/F Old Bank of China Building, Bank St., Central, 2521-8888) “I love the architecture of the space and love the art. It’s wonderful dining in the presence of great art. And the staff are fantastic.”

5. Gaia Ristorante (Ground Floor, Grand Millennium Plaza, 181 Queen’s Rd., Central, 2167-8200) “Everyone loves Italian food and the food here is always of good standard. A friend of mine runs the restaurant. It just has such a good atmosphere.”
