Mani Fok
Mani Fok, a one-time salesgirl at Lane Crawford, is the artist management director for the Emperor Entertainment Group, home to Hong Kong’s biggest stars, such as the Twins and Joey Yung. She talks to Janet Leung about climbing the professional ladder and the importance of beauty.

I was born in a big family with eight children. My twin sister is five minutes younger than me.
My dad left us when we were young and my elder siblings took care of the family. We are a tight-knit family.
As a child, I wandered on the streets with my younger siblings and rode buses without paying. We got yelled at, but I didn’t care.
When I was a child, I fell from my bed and badly injured my head. When I was in the hospital, I went to the nursery, made all the babies cry, then fled.
A few days later, I fell in the same way and hit the same spot on my head. That is definitely karma.
I was bullied in grade seven, so I bullied everyone else starting from grade eight and after.
