Deli Lamma
Feeling sad, blue and despising of the Central party people? Why not drown a sorrow or two on a peaceful outlying island? The Deli Lamma is not just a great place to inhale vast quantities of Indian food, it’s also a bar where everyone really will know your name (and offer you highly competitive alcohol prices). Drop in for the “Miserable Hour” on Friday night, 10pm-6am, when drinks are cheap(er), but be warned, plenty of Lamma locals will have the same idea. If you want to drink away your troubles in peace, try a little 9am-8pm drinking on Mon-Sat when beers are $20 and mixed drinks $25.
36 Main St., Yung Shue Wan, Lamma, 2982-1583.
The Hair of the Dog
Got dumped? No friends? Lost your job? All the ingredients for a big fat mess of a night are here, from the jukebox playing ancient rock to the $168 “All-You-Can-Drink-for-Three-Hours” Chilean wine deal, applicable at any time. If you don’t think hours can get any happier than this, think again. Drop in anytime before 9pm and after 3am and you’ll enjoy the real happy hour with two-for-one beers and cut-rate cocktails. You can probably even slur your problems into the ear of the bar manager, who is too well mannered to turn you away.
G/F, Supreme House, 2A Hart Ave., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2311-1248.
The Bridge
If you want a bar you can depend on to be open, willing and booze-ready, look no further. This place is open 24 hours as both bar and restaurant, morphing into a dance club around 10pm on the weekends. Take your pick from sitting at the bar with the bartender lending a willing ear (as long as you’re still buying drinks), or slump at a table for four all by yourself with only a plate of pancakes for company. Remember, you don’t have any friends or family to cheer you up – that’s why you’re here. If you’re still boozing at 5am, watch out for the after-hours partiers. They might bring revelry.
