60 Seconds with Hotcakes on 55th
Indie rockers Hotcakes on 55th are Adriel on bass/vocals, Matt on guitar, Dom on drums and Timmy on vocals and guitar.

What’s in your pocket right now?
Adriel: Holes, $10,000 bills and your mom.
Matty: An antique mobile phone, and a wallet with a bunch of cards that don’t do anything.
On Hong Kong audiences moshing:
Timmy: Ya man! It’s wicked. It’s sexy, makes me hungry, err...happy.
Worst gig:
Adriel: I asked the crowd if anyone knew how to work a guitar amp, and one voice from the silent crowd screams “AMPS WORK BETTER WHEN YOU PLUG YOUR GUITAR INTO THEM!”
Hard work being in a band?
Adriel: Yeah, it definitely is. But it’s worth it, so while it’s hard work, it’s fun work and I love doing it and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Matty: Everyone else seems to think so ... I think I may be the cause. I’m the lead guitarist, I HAVE to be an ass.
Day job:
Adriel: Intern at the International Baptist Church of Hong Kong. Basically, I’m an assistant youth pastor.
Dom: Cadet photographer for the South China Morning Post. But photography is my life and my religion. It is the way I understand the world around me.
Matty: English teacher.
Timmy: Professional hanger-outter at “Star Crossed Tattoo” on Granville Road.
On groupies:
Matty: I don’t want to say too much, but it involves a lot of vodka, a cheap hotel room, and a .....monkey; but that’s as far as I’m going.
