Dragon-i
Just been dumped? Colleagues finally stopped listening to you? Go where anyone who’s anyone will be on a Saturday night to make yourself heard. Pick a fight with one of the hundreds of pretty young things over who spilled your appletini, and take it to the open-air terrace outside. Paparazzi will swarm in proportion to the attractiveness and fame of the unlucky soul you’re shouting at, and flinging what’s left of your drink over the open-air terrace makes for a great motion shot. You’re guaranteed a couple of column inches the next day, at the very least. Dragon-I, UG/F, The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, Central, 3110-1222.
The InterContinental Lobby Lounge
If that contract you’ve been working on for the last six months solid just fell though, then why not take those contract-breakers to a quiet afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge to unwind? As you take in the panoramic views of Victoria Harbor, interrupt the silence by slapping a plate out of a busboy's hand, and then vociferously demand to see his manager, and then his manager’s manager, and then his manager’s manager manager. See how far you can get up the chain before they ask you, politely but firmly, to leave. That’ll teach those business-types to renege on a contract. The bastards. InterContinental Hong Kong, 18 Salisbury Road, Kowloon, 2721-1211.
The Peak Lookout
Perhaps you’ve had such a crappy day that nothing short of a beautiful, romantic dinner with your beau at one of the most picturesque restaurants in Hong Kong will set it right. Then again, perhaps your day’s been so bad that even that won’t make up for it – but if you’re perched on top of the Peak, then you can be damn sure if you yell loud enough, everyone on the island’s going to hear. Pick a table and a fight outside, and when you’re done ride the Peak Tram down from your rage-induced high. 121 Peak Road, Victoria Peak, 2849-1000
